The Registration & Intake Process
Before your first session:
After your initial phone consultation, you will receive two emails:
An email introduction to your therapist including appointment details, direct contact information and logistics.
A link to our client portal from our confidential electronic record system, Simple Practice. Please complete as much of the intake as you feel comfortable. Recording your history can bring up a lot of feelings, so please share as much or as little as you like, as you and your therapist can work through this information together at your pace. The goal is to make the most of your extended first session.
Some clients may also receive checklists or measures from our group or from Pearson Assessment to support the intake process. These come from an external site (Pearson Q global), so double check your spam.
What to expect through the intake process:
In collaboration with your therapist, you have an extended first session (60 minutes). Children, teens and families generally have a more extended intake process 1-4 sessions. Here you and your therapist work together to:
Get a to know one another. Press you questions. Let all sides of yourself shine through.
Together we assess your needs. What brings you in at this time? What are your stressors (present and past) and how are they impacting you day to day? Sometimes more formal assessment tools are offered.
Orient to the therapeutic process. Connect to your capacity for change. Co-create a therapeutic relationship unique to your needs and relational style.
Set goals and next steps as a team.
